We are looking for a postdoc researcher to work on developing novel methods to simulate multiphase flows in pipelines. The position is related to an industry-supported research project which tries to enhance the current methods and implement them on novel computational architectures. The project will cover the theoretical, numerical, and computational aspects of the problem.

A Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is required. The candidate must have strong knowledge of scientific programming using GPUs and numerics. Background in CFD code development, high-performance computing, or machine learning would be an asset. The English language is a prerequisite for the role. The selected candidate will participate in developing new models, implementing in our in-house code, and also performing related simulations.

The project will be based in the Laboratory of Multiphase Flow in Pipelines (LEMT), the federal university of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). The project will involve research collaboration with other universities around the world and also industrial partners. The successful candidates will be expected to carry out research and publish scholarly papers. The position is available for 1 year with the possibility of an extension based on performance (up to three years). 

The scholarship is approximately R$ 10000 per month (depending on experience) and tax-free.
